Highest Common Factor (HCF) & Lowest Common Multiple (LCM)
HCF (Highest Common Factor) and LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) in GCSE Maths are used to find the factors and multiples of two or more numbers. HCF is the largest factor that two or more numbers have in common, while LCM is the smallest multiple that two or more numbers have in common. HCF and LCM can be used to solve problems involving fractions, ratios, and proportions.
After watching the AJMaths revision videos on the highest common factor and lowest common multiple I will be able to:
- Find the Prime Factors of a Number
- Find the Highest Common Factor for Two or More Numbers
- Find the Lowest Common Multiple for Two or More Numbers
- Answer Exam Style Questions on the HCF and LCM for GCSE Maths
Finding Prime Factors
In this video we will take a look at how we can find the prime factors of a number by using a prime factor tree. This is an important skill for when we look at finding the highest common factor and the lowest common multiple.
