Capture Recapture
Capture-recapture is a statistical method used in GCSE Maths to estimate the size of a population by capturing and marking a sample of individuals, releasing them back into the population, and then capturing a second sample. By comparing the number of marked individuals in the second sample to the total number of individuals in that sample, an estimate of the population size can be calculated. The method assumes that the population is closed, randomly distributed, and that the marking process does not affect the behaviour of the individuals.
After watching the AJMaths revision videos on Capture Recapture I will be able to:
- Use Capture Recapture to Estimate a Population Size
- Answer Exam Style Questions on Capture Recapture for GCSE Maths
Introduction to Capture Recapture
In this video we will take a look at an introduction to capture recapture and how we can use capture recapture to estimate a population size which would be far too difficult to count in practise.
Exam Revision for Capture Recapture
In this video we will take a look at a mix of exam style questions for capture recapture.
